About Us

The municipality was founded in 1908 by white settlers, and It started as a relay station on the slave route between Uganda and Tanzania. Slaves were quartered at what is now the Kitale Club. The Municipality is one of the major urban areas in the Western part of Kenya.

Solid Waste Management

Collection of waste and provision of disposal points, management of county’s dumpsite and sensitizing stakeholders on sustainable waste management practices within the municipality.

Infrastructure Maintenance

Construction and maintenance of urban roads, drainage systems, markets, boda boda stands and taxi stands within the municipality.

Enhancing Aesthetics

Town beautification, provision of recreational parks and other environmentally friendly facelifting activities.

Formulation and enforcing of urban area management regulations, regulation of outdoor advertisement, noise abatement and development control within the municipality.
